Microneedling

Controlled micro perforations that trigger the skin's natural repair. One of the treatments with the best balance between results and invasiveness.

How it works

A device with micro needles creates very superficial, controlled perforations in the skin. These micro injuries activate the natural repair process, which includes the production of collagen and elastin.

The same mechanism temporarily increases skin permeability, allowing active ingredients applied during the session to penetrate better.

Indications

  • Acne scars, especially depressed scars
  • Uneven texture and enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and loss of firmness
  • Stretch marks
  • Scalp stimulation in hair loss protocols

The session

A topical anaesthetic is applied about 30 minutes beforehand. The session itself takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Afterwards, the skin is red, similar to a mild sunburn. This redness fades within 24 to 48 hours. It is essential to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen strictly in the following days.

Protocol and results

Three to six sessions are usually needed, four weeks apart. Texture improvements start to show after the second or third session; scars require more time and more sessions.

One contraindication to keep in mind: microneedling should not be done over active inflammatory acne. In those cases, the inflammation is treated first.

Frequently asked questions

Is it the same as doing it at home with a roller?

No. Home devices have very short needles and do not reach the depth needed to stimulate collagen. Also, without proper asepsis, there is a real risk of infection and of worsening scars.

How many sessions do I need?

For texture and pores, typically three to four. For acne scars, six or more, and the result is a significant improvement, not complete disappearance. We prefer to be clear about this upfront.

Can I have it in summer?

It is possible, but it requires absolute discipline with sun protection, because the skin is temporarily more vulnerable and there is a risk of hyperpigmentation. Whenever possible, we prefer the months with less sun exposure.
